Stop doing new year resolutions. Make the change now !
People tend to postpone stuff that is uncomfortable for them. Don't wait until next year. If you want the change, do it right now or it will never happen. I'm writing this blog, inspired by the well known sentence "The son of the shoemaker has no shoes". I have a computer since I am 5 years old, I've been developing web applications for years, and I have no blog... yet, because I postponed it every time. Yes, I know, the layout of this website is horrible, firstly, I'm a very bad designer, secondly I believe in the concept of continuous improvement. That is what I want to discuss in this post. Someday I saw a woman which does 30 pull ups in one set. I thought, if a woman can make 30, I definitely can make it better. I opened Amazon, click, click, doorbell rings, and I have a new shiny pull up bar mounted in my flat, piece of cake. Next came the disappointment, sadly, I was unable to do 5 pull ups. It was impossible to move my 95kg butt up to the bar. To my surprise, I found very good resources for mastering this now impossible looking mission. Thanks Scooby! I really like this approach, I use it almost everyday in software development. The recipe is quite simple:
Find the worst piece of the whole system
Repeat the two steps until you're satisfied with the result
Honestly, I can't make 30 pullups yet, but I'm on the way, in my own peace, and I see the results, which motivates me to continue This blog is also far from be finished, but now I see some progress, the first post is there, and it motivates me again to continue.
So if you really want to make a change, begin now, aim high, make small improvements, stay motivated, reach your goal.
